Free Framer templates can give a portfolio or a small website a useful starting structure. The important comparison is what you can actually edit and publish: the pages, content model, mobile layout and license. These three templates have a free commercial-price variant in the Craftwork catalog as checked on October 7, 2026. Each has a live demo so you can compare the layout before opening the download. Hosting is a separate decision.

Start with the work your site must do
For a portfolio, write down the projects and case studies you will publish. For an artist’s site, check how visitors move between the work and your biography. For a personal profile, look for space for your experience and contact details. A template that already fits that structure usually needs fewer changes than one chosen only for its opening animation.
Discovery: portfolio structure with a Figma file
Discovery’s catalog listing includes four web pages, a Figma design file, styles and components, a Framer remix link, and CMS projects. It also lists desktop, tablet and mobile breakpoints. That combination makes it a candidate when you want to work through the design in Figma as well as assemble the site in Framer.
Open the Discovery live demo and follow a project, About and Contact link. Compare that structure with your own content list. If a blog is central to your site, inspect the included pages and CMS setup after opening the template rather than assuming that the word “blog” in its name covers every publishing requirement.
Artfolio: an artwork-led portfolio
Artfolio is described as a no-code portfolio for artists and includes CMS support. Its live demo separates Artworks and About, which is useful when the work itself should lead and your biography should remain easy to find. Start here if your images can carry the page without long descriptions beside every item.
Before choosing it, try artwork with your own aspect ratios. Check how a tall image, a wide image and a short caption fit together. The listing confirms CMS support, but does not enumerate every collection or field; inspect those in the template before planning a larger archive.
Maxfolio: projects alongside a personal profile
Maxfolio is a personal portfolio aimed at designers and other creatives. Its live demo combines project links with an About section, experience, testimonials and contact information. It is worth comparing when you want visitors to understand both your work and the person behind it.
Replace the sample professional history and testimonials with your own material. The catalog does not specify a CMS setup or an included page count, so confirm those separately if frequent project publishing is part of your workflow. A working demo is useful evidence of the layout, not a complete inventory of the editable files.
What “free” covers
The free variants were checked in Craftwork’s catalog on October 7, 2026. Open the product and confirm the currently selected variant before downloading; a different license or variant can have a different price. Read the Craftwork license for the scope of use rather than treating a zero price as permission to redistribute the source template.
The template and the published site are separate purchases. Review Framer’s current plans for the domain, CMS and hosting requirements of your project. Do not budget for a client launch from the template price alone.
A short preview checklist
- Open the live demo at desktop and mobile widths. Try the navigation and every page you expect to use.
- Match the included pages and CMS fields to your actual content list.
- Check whether you need the Figma file as well as the Framer project.
- Replace sample images, names and testimonials, and confirm the rights to any assets you keep.
- Check the license and hosting plan before connecting a domain.
Browse the free Framer collection for more options, or compare the wider Framer template catalog when you need a different structure.
